For the ones staying in big4 for 5 years, well, life is very miserable (no family, non-paid leave, work over 15 hours a day, etc).
Maybe you think a duration like 8 year is not "long" enough to judge. But don't you think my observation does have some implications on the career path nowadays?PMnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8771767110462229434.post-65850251746029965172010-01-07T08:56:11.254+08:002010-01-07T08:56:11.254+08:00我係討論區轉貼咗思妹呢篇文章,有興趣請看看^^

An auditor who has been around audit for 8 years get the comment "Cher, auditors for so many years, no commercial experience? I'd have to train you again."
If you want to move out of audit/accounting, banking for example, people look down on auditors because the industry promotes non-thinkers/cows. You get all these people taking FRM and CFA in audit, when the HR people look at their resume and yawn. They look for hands on experience! But you'd never know it in audit because people tell themselves that their experience is useful outside. Come on! Go ask someone, in iBank, in HR, someone with a LIFE.

Stop looking at the world through the straw you call your work-life balance. If the world values your work you wouldn't be working for free so much of the time. Not your current boss, not your new boss.

Business is about value.
